Dear Trello, please show us your tiny pencil again!

If like me you’re an avid Trello Board user, you’ll have noticed they removed a very simple but really important feature recently.

The tiny pencil.

This tiny pencil meant we could attach meta-data, to the board without it becoming content. Things like the “Sprint delivery date” or just simply, “Notes for users”

However it appears that their staff believe people “weren’t using the feature” [http://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/54515/trello-board-is-missing-description-button] and they recommend just adding a card to the top of the list saying, “READ ME FIRST!!”

In a professional opinion (ie, mine), that just feels broken. The columns on our board represent ordered data, and to shove 1 ticket in the top left for notes on the board doesn’t sit right. It’s like the first record in your database not really being a user but a “pretend user”, and we’ll use their “username” field to add a long help description in so it appear at the top of everyone’s site.

Meh. That’s 2005, spacer.gif, tables and JS only validation dirty that it.

Please bring back your tiny  “board description” pencil, we liked it.
